The International Organization of Wooden Money Collectors is dedicated to collecting wooden money and advancing the hobby.
The International Organization of Wooden Money Collectors had it's humble beginnings when a couple of collectors of wooden money gathered in California in 1964. From these humble beginnings the club quickly "exploded" to 332 members in 1976. members by the mid-70's/ IOWMC held its 11th annual meeting in August 1974, in Columbus, Ohio. This was hailed as the "World's First All Wooden Money Convention" and took place over three days. Many collectors had exhibits of wooden money and it was reported that over 1,000,000 pieces of wooden money were exhibited. Members judged the exhibits and Clarence Kramer was chosen as the "King" of Wooden Money, Rusty Baily was chosen as "Queen", and Tex Ryder was chosen as "Prince".
